So, two JW men knock on our door tonight at about 8pm
by JWdaughter inall they did was invite us to a convention on the other side of town in mid-july.
my husband tried to engage them and asked where he could send them some information.
they showed him the address for the convention center across town-yeah, they are going to get it there.

Lets call this what it is. Its busy work.
Its now 7,500 hours spent to get one new member (gross), while 35-40% of the baptismal number each year die, leave, or are disfellowshipped (no longer counted as publishers)
So this is an hours booster. Anyone can do it. Service is now easy! Hand a tract. Sit by a cart. Seriously.....pretty much nothing to do. Since only 5% or so of JW's can explain their beliefs, making things hard for everyone isn't going to make that go up. So let them do the heavy lifting, and the rest of the slugs get the tract and cart work.
Lets be honest....do they really want new people showing up to THIS convention? I doubt it.

For My Kids
by myjourney ini haven't been on here much, but every so often i try and keep up with the discussions.
i'm sure this topic has been talked about before, so my apologies in advance if i'm repeating.. a little about me.... i'm a non baptized jw married to a devout jw.
both my husband and i were raised in the organization.

Wow.....thats hard. One one hand you love your husband and he is a good father. After all.....he is a victim too.
On the other hand, what he believes is right, is going to hurt the kids (most likely), in the long run.
the thing that confounds me is that you are not baptized. So he marreid an unbaptized woman. Clearly he has a bit of a disobedient streak. Is it possible while trying to have a discussion about balance, that he would agree to "study" your doubts and misgivings?
It seems like a shame that you two are so open with each other, but unable to really get into it. It is so rare to even have the opportunity. I tell people all the time if my wife left.....anyone can.
I'm glad its a last resort, but a divided household with an uber-JW......that sounds like a fresh hell. Especially as you totally fade and the hall starts badmouthing you and your choices (marks mommy......thats happening btw).

Interesting that while saying the world will turn on them, they put their printing and logistical management in the hands of......the world! To save cost.
While its a smart move overall......i mean.....it has to ring a little to anyone paying attention no?

Judge sanctions WTS - $4k per day penalty for not producing sex abuse documents
by Simon injudge sanctions jehovah's witnesses.
imposes $4000-a-day penalty for not producing documents in sex-abuse case.
by dorian hargrove, june 24, 2016. a san diego superior court judge has ordered the church of jehovah's witnesses, also known as the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, to pay $4000 a day for every day that it fails to produce documents requested in a civil lawsuit brought by former parishioner, osbaldo padron, who claims a church elder sexually abused him when he was seven years old.. in a june 23 ruling, expected to be made final today, judge richard strauss admonished the church for willfully ignoring a court order to produce all documents associated with a 1997 body of elders letter that church leaders sent to parishes around the world in a quest to learn about sexual abuse of children by church leaders.. over the course of the past year, the watchtower society and its lawyers have fought hard to keep the letter confidential, claiming that turning over the documents would infringe on the privacy of those mentioned in the letter that were not associated with the case.. in march 2015, the church turned over a heavily redacted version of the letter.

DD,
I wont pile on because you have basically already been responded to. Your assumption that anything i know is beih witheld and doing damage to potential victims is unwelcome however. Im sure you understand why. I wish i knew anything that important!

Data dog......calm down.
I am not "witholding information that could help abuse victims". How did you even come to such an erroneous conclusion? There are outside large national or regional firms helping the WT with their case load. Im not even sure why this is surprising. I know aomekne that works for one of these firms. He knows they are one of a few. I didnt ask too much, because quite frankly as an attorney there isnt much im gonna get.
Call BS all you like. I really dont care.

@ Anders. Thanks for the link. Check your messages
@ Data-dog I just feel comfortable sharing some things publicly, and don't feel comfortable sharing other things. Not to hard to understand I'm sure.
I am definitely anxious to see how this goes. THIS LAST SUNDAYS WATCHTOWER included respecting the police. I didn't read it but it must have been a "superior authorities" type thing. Ironically, apparently they have no problem disobeying these authorities when it suits them, behind the guise of the very document penned by Satan himself (constitution?).
I had a friend mention he has a hard time with the police.....I linked the article and said ....."I think you are off the hook. Apparently you can choose what respect actually means and doesn't mean......and it doesn't always mean obey."
